On the first of each month, it is always a good practice to check the mileage tracker on your phone.
For my clients, I recommend the QuickBooks Mileage tracker. Mileage tracking is built right into QuickBooks. Mileage deductions is important for small businesses, and that includes even part-time enterprises. Making deliveries, pcking up supplies, travel to customer locations – all legitimate business expenses – can be deducted, but only if you are keeping track of the mileage.
The QuickBooks apps is a simple swipe right or left option. With GPS tracking, you create an accurate record of your business mileage. You should be using this feature.
And just to make sure it is working and recording mileage, the first of the month is a good time to check the app. As part of your check, it is also a good time to classify your trips as business or not. You will be glad you did this when you are ready to file your taxes.
