Here are two important tax dates for 2023 to keep in mind. The first is January 23. That’s the start of the tax season, and the first day the Internal Revenue Service will accept tax returns in 2023 for the tax year 2022.
The second date announced by the IRS is April 18, 2023. That’s when tax returns are due. Rather than the regular date of April 15, which falls on a Saturday, the IRS has moved it to Tuesday. The District of Columbia’s Emancipation Day holiday falls on April 17, so the filing deadline was moved to the 18th of this year.
